01 The story, in three paragraphs

Why everyone keeps coming back.

Starbucks at 6568 Hastings Street in Burnaby offers a vibrant and welcoming coffee shop experience that goes well beyond your average caffeine fix. Nestled conveniently on Kensington Ave, this location artfully blends the comfort of a neighborhood cafe with the consistency and quality Starbucks is renowned for worldwide.

Stepping inside, you’re greeted by a friendly and attentive team, exemplified by baristas like Stanley and Leon, whose thoughtful service and mastery of coffee craft turn every visit into a personal experience. Whether you’re racing through a busy morning or settling in for some peaceful study time, the atmosphere here hums with a lively yet cozy energy, complemented by a carefully curated playlist that enhances the mood without overwhelming conversation.

The menu features a delightful array of treats and beverages that cater to varied tastes — each crafted to delight the senses. For those with a sweet tooth, the Frog Cake Pop is a whimsical pick: vanilla cake blended with smooth buttercream, encased in glossy green chocolaty icing, playfully decorated like a cute frog, making it almost too charming to eat. If rich, intense chocolate is your craving, the Double Chocolate Brownie is a satisfying choice, densely packed with semisweet chocolate chunks that melt on your tongue. The Ginger Molasses Cookie offers a comforting warmth, with its chewy texture and the aromatic blend of ginger and molasses inviting you into a cozy embrace. And for a simple buttery delight, the Heart Cookie captures traditional, comforting flavors in a charming shape.

Alongside these treats, Starbucks elevates your coffee experience with innovative drinks like the Pistachio Cortado. This beverage features three ristretto shots of Starbucks® Blonde Espresso Roast — known for its smooth and sweet profile — paired with the subtle nuttiness of pistachio and perfectly steamed milk. Finished with a salted brown-butter topping, it’s a small cup of indulgence packed with complex flavors that feel indulgent yet balanced.

For those seeking refreshment with a fruity twist, the Pink Drink – a Strawberry Açaí Refresher mixed with passionfruit and creamy coconut beverage – is a perennial favorite, bright and invigorating with every sip. The Strawberry Açaí Refresher itself bursts with sweet strawberry and açaí notes, including real strawberry pieces for natural texture, while the Mango Dragonfruit Lemonade Refresher offers a vibrant, exotic zest perfect for a sunny day or an afternoon pick-me-up.

What truly sets this Starbucks apart, according to loyal customers like Olga Panina and Nick B., is the exceptional combination of friendly, efficient service and thoughtful attention to detail. It’s a place where baristas remember your name and your favorite drink, and where the bustle of a busy morning rush is met with calm professionalism. Whether you’re popping in during the hectic 8:30am school run or seeking a quiet corner to study, this location handles high volume with grace and genuine warmth.

Starbucks at Kensington Ave is not just a coffee shop — it’s a daily haven for Burnaby residents and visitors alike, delivering consistently delicious beverages, comforting treats, and a sense of community. Every visit here feels personalized and energizing, making it a standout spot to recharge and indulge in some well-deserved coffee ritual.

This is one of my favorite Starbucks locations! The whole team is friendly, efficient, and creates a great atmosphere every time I visit. I especially want to highlight Stanley – not only does he make the best latte, but he's also incredibly thoughtful. Whenever I order tea through the app and my usual choice is out of stock, he always takes the time to ask if I’d prefer my regular order or go with what's available. That kind of attention to detail is rare and really appreciated. Big thanks to Stanley and the entire team – you all do an amazing job. Thank you for the great service and positive vibes!

The last best coffee stop in Burnaby before you hit the Barnett highway. A usual stop for me in rush hour traffic.

Wish the stars you accumulate didn't disappear. Busy location right before school start at 830am. Staff handling the high volume with dedicated staff calling out all the orders including mobile ones. Red cup day November 16 extra busy. Great day to pick up a free reusable cup with Christmas handcrafted drink.

Decent place, nearby and somewhat nice ambiance. Staff seems somewhat new (they turned over the previous, more experienced staff), and the music selections the last few visits really suck - too loud, and too heavy on the jazz-like, alternative style versions (too folksy), as though they are trying to prove how hip they are. Just make the music more basic, please, and a lower volume.
